How Empathic Are You?

How Empathic Are You?

“Empathy is about finding echoes of another person in yourself.” — Mohsin Hamid

Empathy is the ability to imagine, understand, and share what others might be thinking or feeling; “walk in their shoes.”  In this month’s Diversity and Inclusion Education Series, we’re discussing empathy to identify strategies for fostering empathy in the workplace and explore how this skill can change behavior and build better relationships.

How Empathic Are You? See how you score on this Empathy Quiz.

Participants who email proof of completion, plus one take away from what they learned, to the Diversity and Inclusion team at listening@bayclubs.com by or before Friday, March 5, 2021, will be entered into a drawing to win a snug Bay Club blanket!  Participants are welcome to block out their results if they prefer to keep them private.

Good luck!

The take away is how important it always is to try your hardest to put yourself in someone else’s shoes before making judgement on how they are feeling or acting.

I agree with Kandee. Where I feel I could do better is actively listening a little more to the other person, really taking the time to understand where they’re coming from, giving them my full attention.
Thank you, Bay Club for continuing these educations series!

For me, I could practice more active listening. It’s what I would want from someone else so even though I may be in hurry the time it takes to actually listen and respond appropriately is better than the feeling I have let someone down or hurt their feelings.
Ditto to what Tricia said, thank you Bay Club for doing this series!

What I took away was that sometimes there is more than two sides to every story and question. There are alot of factors that go into interactions positive and negative. What we know is, that we really do not know what other people are facing in their lives, so our goal is to do our best to understand others.

I think it was interesting that one suggestion for me was to read a Fictional book. I tend to gravitate toward non-fiction most of the time!
