Throughout our 40-year company history, we’ve been fortunate to have a workplace of associates with various backgrounds, languages, philosophies on life, and experiences enrich our clubs. And it is through these differences that they bring knowledge, new perspectives, and unique approaches to what we do.
Bringing people into what already exists, it is making a new space, a better space for everyone.

Orfa Sandoval | Housekeeping/Facilities Manager at Bay Club El Segundo
I have worked with the company for 6 years. My journey began at Bay Club Rolling Hills as a housekeeper and over time I was promoted to housekeeping lead, then to housekeeping and facilities manager at El Segundo.
I was born and raised in El Salvador, a country that has struggled throughout the years with not only political but also socio-economic challenges. These circumstances taught me that you must work hard to live a decent kind of life. El Salvador had its challenges, but people are hospitable and often care and see the good in others.
I went to school but also had to do domestic work for relatives and neighbors so I could help with household income. Throughout this process, I learned about responsibility, diligence, excellence, attention to detail amongst other qualities. At home, through my parents and my faith, I learned good values such as respect, loyalty, honesty, efficiency, consistency, and service to others. We are a Christian family, and we believe that no human is different from others, that everyone should be treated the same regardless of who they are or where they come from, and those teachings helped me perform my job at Bay Club with better judgment.
I am proud of who I have become. I did not know I had the ability to lead others or to speak and write in a different language. This has taught me that anyone can succeed, and I use it to motivate others. I believe we are all talented in different ways and it just takes finding a passion, something we love to do and follow. In my case, I used to work with children and teens at church and it made me realize I enjoy working with people. I like to motivate and serve others no matter who they are.
I am thrilled with the Diversity and Inclusion initiatives because it gives us a tool to refer to in the workplace as we have people from different countries, ethnicity, and beliefs. It will help us understand and explain the importance of treating each other with respect and justice no matter who, what, or where they come from. It will help me to continue being who I am and help others understand the feeling of being included or excluded, treated equally or differently just because of who they are. It will help me teach or influence good values in others.
