Diversity & Inclusion Education Series | November 2021

“Knowing that one may be subject to bias is one thing; being able to correct it is another.” ― Jon Elster

The Bay Club is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, where all associates feel supported and valued. For this month’s Education Series, a training course on Unconscious Bias has been made available to all associates via Emtrain, our Learning Management System. This course explains the concept of unconscious bias and shows us how, if unchecked, our “gut feeling” can lead to decisions and behaviors that help some people and hinder others. It also gives learners practical tools and strategies to minimize the impact of unconscious bias and how to recognize it.

Additionally, our coffee chats will provide a safe space to hold conversations about the natural shortcuts our brains use to process information, leading to Unconscious Bias. As well as the importance of self-awareness and the power we all hold to make stronger, more fact-based decisions.

You can find everything you need for this month’s Education Series by clicking the links below:

  • Diversity and Inclusion Training – Participation in the Education Series is entirely voluntary; however, all Associates who complete the training course will be entered to win a Bay Club Throw Blanket!  Participants must complete the course by December 1, 2021, to be entered into a drawing! 😊
    • Note: Hourly Associates are paid for their participation and should be mindful that this time does not result in overtime. To be paid for the 30-minute course, associates must send a copy of their completion certificate (which can be downloaded upon course completion) to their supervisor.
  • Coffee Chat Schedule – All associates are invited to join us from November 11, 2021 – November 23, 2021, as Task Force members will be hosting “Coffee Chats” to discuss the topic of Unconscious Bias. We would love for all our associates to use their voices, be part of the discussion, and join us on the journey of learning and growing together.

Hello, I hope I can attend this one (sorry I’ve had to miss the last few). Looking forward to seeing dates and times for this month’s Coffee Chat.
